Charter of Respect

Emys-R aims at reaching a new paradigm of science and society

In the times we are going through, we believe Emys-R must contribute at reaching a new paradigm of science and society. Within Emys-R, all people are concerned by the impact of our activities on the environment and on the society at large. Accordingly, we agreed on a Charter of Respect, such as:

  • preventing scientific dishonesty.
  • taking care of people, animals, plants, landscapes and equipment.
  • adopting fair, respectful, sustainable habits, practices and trades.
  • not wasting resources, but share, reuse and recycle.
  • limiting the carbon footprint of the Project by prefering sustainable and shared transports and reasoned purchases.

Transport-related Carbon Footprint

The graph shows the monthly and cumulative carbon footprint due to extra transports* since the beginning of the Project, based on information voluntarily shared by Ems-R people. These are thus underestimates of actual values.

* « extra transports » refers to any journey on top of normal working-day transportation (e.g. field trips, conferences, etc.).

New equipment Carbon footprint

— in process —

« New equipment » refers to equipment newly bought by the Project to achieve its goals, with a special focus on electronics (e.g. lab equipments, computers, screens, electronic devices, etc.).

Emys-R is funded through the 2020-2021 Biodiversa & Water JPI joint call for research proposals, under the BiodivRestore ERA-Net COFUND programme, and with the funding organisations Agence Nationale de la Recherche (ANR, France), Bundesministerium für Bildung und Forschung (BMBF, Germany), State Education Development Agency (VIAA, Latvia), and National Science Center (NSC, Poland).
